“Squid Game” 2 is in the final stages of filming at Studio Cube located in  Daejeon, South Chungcheong Province in South Korea.

Studio Cube is a public production infrastructure established by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency in 2017 to strengthen the competitiveness and support the development of the Korean broadcast video content industry.

“Last week, we destroyed the existing set and built a new one at Studio Cube in Daejeon Expo Park and are filming the remaining scenes. The previous episode was filmed here, so it’s a familiar space, and we’re smoothly completing the production process,” a representative of “Squid Game” 2 told Korean media outlet Newsen.

The representative said “Squid Game” 2 is being filmed at Studio Cube’s Studio A, the largest space with an area of 1,136 pyeong or 3,755 sq.m. Pyeong is a unit of measurement in South Korea.

According to the report, Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Im Si-wan, and Kang Ha-neul are participating in the filming.

Studio Cube has a chroma key facility. Chroma key is “the process of shooting something or someone in front of a screen and then digitally replacing it with green screen backgrounds. This process – sometimes also known as Color Separation Overlay – has become a standard video production technique,” according to website Boris FX.

“Squid Game” 2 started filming in July last year and will end in June, the report added.

The report stated that the production cost for “Squid Game” 2 is 100 billion won (about $73.6 million) and will be released between October and December.

“Squid Game” was released in September 2021 and became Netflix’s biggest show. It is No. 1 on Netflix’s most popular list with 2.2 billion hours viewed or 265.2 million views in the first 91 days on the streaming platform.
