A resident of the municipality wrote a letter of request for assistance (RAS) to Deputy Ombudsman for the Visayas Dante Vargas which was received via the regional office of the Ombudsman in Iloilo City on May 3.

The Ombudsman was asked to probe the alleged role of Chavez in the “illegality and nullity” of the passage of Resolution No. 2023-11, the Resolution Adopting the 2024 Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Work and Financial Plan.

The complainant urged the Ombudsman to investigate the alleged falsification of signatories that made it appear that the Jordan Municipal Development Council (MDC) approved the resolution last December 29, 2023.

The complainant alleged that there could be “possible criminal and administrative cases” as signatures could not have been possible when there was no quorum to hold the meeting of the Jordan MDC when only seven of the 22-member council was present.

The resolution is required for the enactment of the 2024 annual executive budget of the local government unit.
