JV Ejercito hails release of retirement pay for ex-IBC employees

Senator Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito on Sunday, May 5 welcomed the release of retirement pay for the former employees of the Intercontinental Broadcasting Corp. (IBC).

Ejercito expressed his elation after learning that a total of 145 ex-IBC employees will finally receive their long-awaited retirement pay.

The senator noted it has been over two decades since these employees parted ways with the state-run media entity.

“I am thrilled to hear that the hardworking employees of IBC are finally receiving the retirement pay they rightfully deserve,” Ejercito said in a statement.

The senator had staunchly defended the budget of IBC during the deliberations in 2022 and 2023 budget.

“These individuals dedicated their time and efforts to serving the corporation, and it is only fitting that they receive what is rightfully theirs,” he stressed.

During the deliberations on the 2022 budget, Ejercito expressed concern over budget cuts for IBC-13, noting that the reductions may have an impact on the retirement benefits for eligible employees of state-run broadcasting stations.

Ejercito continued to advocate for the retirement benefits of former IBC employees during the deliberations on the 2023 budget.

“This money rightfully belongs to the people; they earned it through their hard work, and denying them their rightful benefits is unjust,” he said.
