DMW: 2 OFWs injured in Hong Kong landslide

Two overseas Filipino workers (OFW) were injured in a landslide that occurred in Hong Kong following a heavy rainstorm on Saturday, May 4, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said.

In a statement released on Sunday, May 5, the DMW said it is now closely monitoring the condition of the two OFWs who were injured in a landslide while taking photos and videos of the storm’s damage to a resort in Sai Kung, New Territories.

“Both were immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment,” the DMW said.

“The wife sustained head injuries but is in stable condition. She remains in hospital for further observation, while her husband suffered leg injuries and is currently undergoing an operation,” it added.

The DMW said it has already provided initial financial assistance to the couple with the assistance of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).
