16 areas may have ‘dangerous’ heat index on May 5


The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said 16 areas in the country may have heat indices under “danger” level on Sunday, May 5.

PAGASA said Aparri, Cagayan may have a heat index of 48°C followed by a heat index of 47°C in Dagupan City, Pangasinan. 

A heat index of 45°C may also be recorded in Virac, Catanduanes, while a heat index of 44°C may be felt in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte and Bacnotan, La Union. 

In Tuguegarao City, Cagayan and Masbate City, Masbate, a heat index of 43°C may be experienced. 

Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) in Batac, Ilocos Norte; Isabela State University (ISU) in Echague, Isabela; Casiguran, Aurora; Puerto Princesa City, Palawan; Cuyo, Palawan; Roxas City, Capiz; Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur; Cotabato City, Maguindanao; and Dumangas, Iloilo may have a heat index of 42°C.
