According to the Southern Police District (SPD), a 65-year-old driver of a white Toyota Innova was shot by another motorist driving a black Mercedes Benz with plate number BCS77 while cruising inside the tunnel.

Witnesses said that after being shot, the victim tried to bring his vehicle to a stop by maneuvering it to the right side corner of the tunnel, but eventually lost control causing it to hit multiple motorcycles in front of the vehicle.

"We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the victim. Please be assured that the SPD is fully committed to using all available resources to ensure that justice is served. Our joint operatives are currently conducting a hot pursuit operation to apprehend the suspect," SPD District Director Brig. Gen. Leon Victor Rosete said.

"Comprehensive investigations, including ballistic examinations and verification of the vehicle and firearm ownership, are underway," he added, as he vowed that the police will not stop until the suspect is brought to justice.

"Furthermore, we would like to remind all motorists and drivers to exercise patience, caution, and respect on the road. Road rage incidents can quickly escalate to dangerous and life-threatening situations. Let us all commit to maintaining peace and order on our roads to prevent such tragedies from occurring," the director said.
