Cadiz city gov't cites PNU-V performance in LEPT


BACOLOD CITY – The city government of Cadiz in Negros Occidental commended the Philippine Normal University-Visayas (PNU-V) for its performance in the March 2024 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT).

As one of the government-run institutions in Cadiz specializing in education programs and courses, PNU-V ranked fourth among the top performing schools in the country on the secondary level with 100 to 299 examinees.

A total of 105 out of 109 examinees passed the exam, equivalent to a 96.33 passing rate, according to the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).

Overall, the school garnered 99.03 percent and 96 percent passing rate for first-time takers on the secondary and elementary levels, respectively.

The school also produced a topnotcher on the LEPT secondary level. 

Renante de la Torre Jr., a graduate of Bachelor Science in Mathematics Education in 2023, placed 10th in the exam with average of 90.80 percent.

Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr. said the Cadiz community is rejoicing with over the PNU-V's accomplishment in the academe.

“It was indeed an astonishing performance of PNU-V worthy of praise that the local government of Cadiz can be proud of,” he said.

"It pumps my heart with gladness. And I am grateful to the administration of PNU-V for being true to its commitment to producing 'the best teachers' not just for Cadiz, but for the entire Negros Island or even across the country," Escalante added.

"It will mean more quality teachers in Negros Occidental ready to dwell on quality teaching with an aim to produce more quality learners in the future." 

The Carlos Hilado Memorial State University (CHMSU) in Talisay City also ranked second among the top performing schools in the country with 50 to 99 examinees on the elementary level. 

Sixty-one out of 62 examinees passed the exam for a 98.39 passing rate.
