Joseph Ian E. Baloaloa, a Bachelor of Secondary Education, Major in Mathematics magna cum laude graduate, hurdled the exam with a 90.80 percent rating.

Baloaloa was elated over his achievement, saying that he did not expect to be one of the topnotchers as he only sought to pass the exam.

A native of Barangay Malasin, Bangui, Ilocos Norte, Baloaloa is currently taking up law at the MMSU College of Law.

He took a leave of absence to prepare for the LET.

Baloaloa said he will continue to pursue his law degree after the examination and added that he does not have a plan to work abroad.

The MMSU based in Batac City, this province, was one of the country’s top-performing schools in the LET.

First-time examinees on the elementary level obtained a 100 percent passing rate. Including retakers, the success rate was 86.21 percent, almost twice the national passing rate of 46.67 percent.

Ninety-three of 97 first-time examinees passed the secondary level. Including retakers, the passing rate was 95.88 percent, higher than the 58.78 percent national passing rate.

In a Facebook post, MMSU President Shirley C. Agrupis and the entire MMSU community congratulated their new teachers. “Congratulations to our new teachers! We are so proud of you,” they said in an FB post.
