Ash Ketchum's original voice, Veronica Taylor, comes to Manila for ultimate 'Pokeverse' event

A day filled with trading cards, Pokemon-themed activities, and exclusive Pokemon merch as the first "Pokeverse" event sets out from May 31 to June 2 at the SM Megamall Megatrade Hall. 

Pokeverse is a celebration crafted by fans, for fans. It offers an unofficial Pokémon-themed expo to honor the cherished Pokémon brand, adored by millions in the Philippines and beyond. 

To make the event even more exciting, Veronica Taylor, who was the voice of Ash Ketchum in the Pokemon franchise, is making a special to meet her fans in Manila. 

During a Zoom interview with Veronica on May 14 at the Hobby Stadium in Quezon City, the voice actress shared how excited she is to meet the Pinoy Pokemon fans.

"It's going to be such an incredible event. This is unique, with all the different areas and experiences people can have when coming in. I'm really looking forward to that, and I'm also looking forward to what the people might bring, like drawings, merch, and more," Veronica said. 

Veronica's contribution to the Pokémon franchise extends beyond just voicing Ash Ketchum. She has also lent her voice to several other characters, including Ash’s mother, Delia Ketchum, and May. Her versatile talent has made her a beloved figure in the anime world. 

In addition to her work in television, Veronica has made significant contributions to film and video games. She has voiced characters in major projects such as "Slayers," "One Piece," "Dinosaur King," and "Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters."

In addition to Veronica, another Pokemon icon is present at the event: Jason Paige, who sang the original Pokemon theme song. 

"I've been following some Pokemon fan accounts from the Philippines, and some fans reached out to me years ago. I hope to see them all at the event," Jason said.

Kirck Allen, one of the lead producers of the Pokeverse Expo, also mentioned that the three-day event would feature many Pokemon-related activities for both kids and adults to enjoy. 

"We've had brilliant Pokémon-themed events in the country before, but Pokeverse is the first Pokémon-themed expo of its kind. It distinguishes itself from previous conventions and meet-ups by its unprecedented scale, design, and comprehensive offerings," he said. 

Attendees can look forward to diverse interactive activities, gaming tournaments, cosplay showcases, and live performances, ensuring an unforgettable experience for Pokémon enthusiasts of all ages.
