Despite ruling the field, his time was still slower than his season-best 49.86sec he posted at the Mt. SAC Relays last April, as well as the Olympic standard of 48.70sec to qualify for Paris.

Currently sitting at No. 54 in the world rankings of the event, the national record holder hopes to enter the Top 40 for another trip to the Olympics.

The Southeast Asian Games multi-champion will have until June 30 for another shot in the quadrennial meet.

Last week, Cray bagged two golds in the 2024 National Open where other PH top athletics stars also competed including his teammates Tokyo Olympian Kristina Knott, Lauren Hoffman, John Cabang Tolentino, Robyn Brown and Angel Frank.
