The city government together with Seagulls Flock Organization Inc. (SFO) held an International Conference on Responsible Gambling and Gaming Addiction from May 20-22, at Novotel Hotel in Cubao, Quezon City.

“Aside from advocating responsible gambling, the event also aims to inform about the potential pitfalls associated with gambling and gaming addiction and how to avoid them," Mayor Joy Belmonte said.

The conference is also organized by the International Gambling Counselor Certification Board (IGCCB) and sponsored by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR).

Clinicians, psychologists, social workers, policy makers, academics, local and government officials, and gambling/gaming operators will discuss and advance strategies for promoting responsible gambling and gaming practices in the industry.

The event seeks to address various complex challenges that gambling and the gaming industry present with innovative, multi-sectoral, and multi-disciplinary solutions for prevention, treatment, research and recovery.

Dr. Marc Potenza, Professor of Psychiatry, Director of the Divisions on Addictions Research at the Yale School of Medicine, will provide the keynote speech, while PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Alejandro Tengco also deliver a message of support.
