Wanky said their relief will be automatically implemented if a police chief fails to act on an illegal gambling activity in their areas and if operatives from other units learned that they are receiving bribes.

He reiterated the one-strike policy that is being implemented in the organization.

Wanky revealed that three police non-commissioned officers in the region have been relieved for allegedly receiving bribes or payola from illegal gambling activities.

He did not identify them but one is from Aklan and two are assigned to this city.

With their relief, Wanky said that they are sending a signal to other police officers that they are doing everything against illegal gambling.

“We are putting pressure on them especially to those who might be involved,” he added.

Wanky said that he is satisfied with anti-gambling operations in the region for now.

But he said he is still studying the situation and stressed the need to intensify the campaign against illegal gambling.
