Not so lucky: Shabu inside 'ang pao' leads to arrest of drug suspect in Pasay City

The lucky red envelope called "ang pao" which is normally used to give money to its recipient turned out to be not so lucky for a 53-year-old man who was arrested by members of the Pasay Police Substation 4 after the red envelope he gave out turned out to have contained P170,000 worth of shabu on Monday, May 20.

In a report to the Southern Police District (SPD), Pasay City Police Chief Col.Mario Mayames identified the arrested suspect as alias Pako.

Mayames said members of Substation 4 were conducting routine motorcycle patrol when they spotted Pako who was sitting on his motorcycle conversing with an unidentified person around 12:30 a.m. along Champaca St., Baranay 137. Pako reportedly attempted to hand over to the unidentified person a red envelope (ang pao).

Upon sensing the presence of the police, alias Pako and the other suspect immediately fled.

Alias Pako is currently detained at the police headquarters and was charged for illegal possession of drugs.
