Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan urged the parents or guardians of persons with disability (PWDs) and minors with disability (MWDs) to register so they could be included in the list of recipients of the monthly monetary aid being given by the city government through its social amelioration program.

Lacuna-Pangan said that the office of Department of Social Welfare Chief Re Fugoso will already begin the inclusion of minors who have already registered with their barangays in the payout that will be distributed next month along with solo parents.

The inclusion of MWDs in the city's list of cash aid beneficiaries is pursuant to Ordinance 8991, which was passed on September 19, 2023 by the Manila City Council (MCC) and principally authored by Councilor Fa Fugoso.

Under ordinance 8991, amended Ordinances 8565 and 8756 granted the same allowance to adult persons with disabilities (PWDs), apart from seniors and solo parents residing in Manila.

Lacuna-Pangan said MWDs will receive P500 as monthly allowance from the city government of Manila.

Under the amendment introduced by Councilor Fugoso, all PWDs aged 59 and below will be entitled to P500 monthly if they have been residing in Manila for the last six months.

Beneficiaries' names must appear on the list of PWDs compiled by the office of Manila- DSW.

They must also be registered voters of Manila, except for minors whose parents or legal guardians must be registered as voters in the city.

The city government also provides monthly financial aid to senior citizens, solo parents, and students from the two city-run schools Pamantasan ng Maynila and Universidad de Manila.
