1,800 partake of delicacy in Quezon town fiesta


SARIAYA, Quezon – Almost 1,800 individuals participated in the first-ever Pinagong eating event as part of the 25th Agawan Festival here in honor of patron saint San Isidro Labrador (Saint Isidore the Laborer) on Wednesday, May 15, at the town plaza.

Mayor Marcelo Gayeta, local government employees, barangay officials from 43 villages, residents, and tourists joined the event organized by the LGU and sponsored by Universal Robina Corp. (URC).

Malacañang has declared the festival as a holiday to enable the people to participate and enjoy the event.

Pinagong is a local bread shaped like a turtle shell. 

It is a popular snack bread sold by street vendors to travelers and commuters passing through this town.

The delicacy is also sold in pasalubong or take-home gift stores.
