Kalibo mayor joins PH WPS coalition


ILOILO CITY – Mayor Juris Bautista Sucro of Kalibo, the provincial capital of Aklan, joined the Atin Ito (This is Ours) civilian coalition that installed floating markers on the West Philippine Sea on Wednesday, May 15.

"Bilang Akeanon ag Kalibonhon isaeang ka pribilihiyo ro rayang pinasahi nga oportunidad para ipakita sa bilog nga nasyon nga ro mga Kalibonhon hay naga bilog para panindogan rong kinamatarong natong mga Filipino (As an Akeanon and a Kalibonhon, it's my privilege to have this opportunity to represent the Kalibonhon in fighting for our rights as Filipinos)," said Sucro on his official Facebook page.

Sucro is the only local government unit (LGU) official to join the non-profit Atin Ito Coalition that made the trip to the country's Exclusive Economic Zone and distributed supply to Filipino fisherman.

He was accompanied by Aklan media in the mission that asserts Filipino sovereignty following the April 30 incident between the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and Chinese Coast Guard.

"Gahinyo gid kami nga buligan ninyo kami it pangamuyo nga ma hilway kami sa kataeagman nga sa posibleng matabo ag maka balik kami it kompleto pabalik sa among gin halinan (We urge for your prayers that we all get to return home safely)," Sucro added.
