Fresh off three tough bouts that have him backed into a corner, the Filipino heavy hitter is once again up for another challenging outing. He battles #4-ranked strawweight MMA contender Hiroba Minowa at ONE Fight Night 23: Buntan vs. Meksen on July 6, inside Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

Having dropped three consecutive bouts against top competition in #5-ranked Mansur Malachiev, Filipino spitfire Lito Adiwang, and on-the-rise Japanese star Keito Yamakita, Miado doesn’t expect his skid to end easily.

The good thing for him is that he’ll have plenty of time to prepare for Minowa, and he believes that’s the key in getting him out of this slump.

“I won't back down from any fight,” Miado said.

“If there’s an offer, the only thing we can do is to prepare well. Good preparation is always the key, and that’s what I’ll be coming with in this fight.”

In those three fights, Miado struggled with the consistent pressure that his opponents applied on him, which almost always resulted in him being taken down.

Two of those losses happened by submission, and he knows that it’s a defect he can’t afford to let Minowa – a guy known for his excellent grappling skills – capitalize on.

For his part, the 31-year-old promises that he has been doing everything to plug those holes in his game.

“I’m working double on my training sessions. I know the weaknesses that I have to work on as a fighter, and I assure you I’m doing everything to fix it,” he said.

“The previous losses showed me what exactly I have to work on to continue to develop as a fighter, and it gives me the opportunity to grow more.”

While he has plenty of time to prepare, Miado doesn’t want to give any bold proclamations about this fight.

What he can assure fans is that his previous setbacks won’t affect his mindset entering this bout, and he remains confident that he can end his skid against the Japanese grappler.

“There are a lot of things that can happen in this match. There are a bevy of ways that I can win in an MMA fight,” he said.

“I believe in my skills, I’m confident with what I can do, and I know that I can overcome these challenges that I’m facing right now.”
