Las Piñas LGU holds wellness event for young residents

The city government of Las Piñas conducted a health and wellness event that aimed to educate young individuals on reproductive and sexual health.

Mayor Imelda Aguilar said the activity, which carried the theme “Healthy Young Ones” in collaboration with the City Health Office (CHO) led by Dr. Julie Gonzalez, was held at Robinsons Las Piñas last April 19.

Aguilar said the team from the City Social Welfare and Development, Department of Education, Sangguniang Kabataan, Local Youth Development Office, Social Hygiene Clinic, and the Dental Health Unit participated in the activity in support of the city's vision of a healthier future for its younger population.. 

She said the activity aimed for foster awareness and responsibility among the youth regarding gender, sexuality, reproduction, and the prevention of HIV and sexually transmitted infections.

The mayor said the session was also part of the broader initiative of the city government to encourage healthy lifestyle choices among adolescents while steering them away from harmful behaviors, including drug use. 

Aguilar said the program, which she initiated with Vice- Mayor April Aguilar, was well- received and demonstrated the community's commitment to nurturing well-informed and responsible young citizens.

She said the city government continues to prioritize health education, ensuring that the young residents are equipped with the knowledge and skills they need to lead healthy and productive lives.
