Hot, humid weather to prevail in the Philippines due to easterlies


The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Thursday, May 2 said hot and humid weather will persist in the country due to the warm winds from the Pacific Ocean, known as the “easterlies.”

In PAGASA’s 4 a.m. live broadcast, weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said “generally fair weather” may be expected in the entire country in the next three days. 

Over the next 24 hours, PAGASA said the country may have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies.

However, it warned the public of flash floods or landslides that may occur during severe thunderstorms. 

Based on PAGASA’s extended weather outlook from May 3 to May 4, the actual air temperatures in some key areas will be 26–37°C in Metro Manila, 26-39°C in Tuguegarao City, 27-33°C in Legazpi City, 18–27°C in Baguio City, 27–33°C in Metro Cebu, 28–32°C in Iloilo City, 26–34°C in Tacloban City, 26–33°C in Metro Davao, 25–34°C in Zamboanga City, and 26–32°C in Cagayan de Oro City.
