Smoking ban at NAIA open parking spaces; Parking operator to shoulder expenses of 19 cars damaged in blaze


The private concessionaire that operates the open parking space at the  Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 will shoulder all the expenses in connection with the fire that burned 19 vehicles on Monday, April 22.

The open parking extension at NAIA Terminal 3, where the fire occurred, is operated by the Philippine Skylanders International (PSI).

“In the spirit of humanitarian consideration and good faith, we shall shoulder all damages incurred by the owners of the vehicles involved,” the PSI said in a letter submitted to the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA).

The letter came amid the ongoing investigation  into the incident, including a review of al available CCTVs to determine what caused the blaze.

MIAA General Manager Eric Ines said they will be implementing a strict smoking ban in open parking spaces at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) followiing the incident.

Ines also approved the recommendation of the Rescue and Firefighting Division of MIAA to install portable fire extinguishers in the area as a first line of defense against fire.
