GSIS asks pensioners to use online services amid extreme heat

The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) is encouraging pensioners to take advantage of the pension fund's online services, especially amid the extreme heat affecting the country.

This announcement came after the weather bureau warned of unprecedented temperatures, reaching up to 46 degrees Celsius in 24 areas throughout the country.

GSIS President and General Manager, Wick Veloso said that old-age and survivorship pensioners should use the GSIS' digital platforms to renew their active status or complete the Annual Pensioners Information Revalidation (APIR).

“Our pensioners are among the most vulnerable during these extreme weather conditions. By enhancing access to our online services, we ensure they can fulfill their requirements without compromising their health," Veloso said in a statement on Monday, April 22.

Veloso said pensioners can now use the GSIS Touch Mobile App to verify their status using advanced facial recognition technology.

This app is easy to use and ensures secure verification of status, allowing pensioners to comply with revalidation requirements without leaving their homes, he said.

To get started, pensioners can download the GSIS Touch Mobile App from major app stores and follow simple steps to complete their status renewal. The app provides an array of other services, making it a one-stop solution for many of their needs.

For those who prefer a more personalized service, an online interview option is available. Pensioners can schedule an appointment through designated GSIS email addresses.
