Haier to expand to 1,500 outlets in PH

Haier, the China-based leader in electronics and home appliances, is significantly expanding its footprint in the Philippines with plans to open 300 to 400 new sales channels this year and to 1,500 over time.

Yan Xuhong, CEO of Haier Philippines, said in a statement that its expansion program is part of Haier's strategic effort to tap into untapped markets and meet the increasing demand for its products.

He said the expansion will bring the total number of Haier’s sales outlets to nearly 1,500 over time, enhancing the company’s ability to serve a broader customer base across the country. Haier's outlets, including both appliance stores in malls and standalone locations, are strategically placed to optimize market reach.

Over the last six years, Haier has experienced a compound annual growth rate of 76 percent, with sales volumes last year reaching 17 times those of 2018. The surge in sales reflects an increasing consumer demand for improved quality of life through home appliances.

Xuhong highlighted the changing consumer perception towards air conditioning units in the Philippines, stating air conditioners, once considered a luxury, are now becoming a basic necessity due to the rising temperatures.

In addition, Haier recently introduced a new split-type inverter air conditioners equipped with UV Cool Connect Pro technology in the Philippines. This innovative feature allows remote management via Wi-Fi and uses ultraviolet sterilization to ensure air quality.

Looking ahead, Xuhong revealed plans to further diversify Haier’s product offerings, including the introduction of solar panels to selected clients.
