"In these times when digital and cyber threats and attacks have become increasingly rampant, we hope to arm our aspiring criminology students with the knowledge and know-how to fend off and foil these technology-aided crimes whether perpetuated globally or locally," UE College of Arts and Sciences Dean Michelle Concepcion said in a statement.

UE said the Bachelor of Science in Criminology with a specialization in Cybersecurity will officially begin in August at the Caloocan campus. (https://www.facebook.com/uecascal)

The university noted that this double degree in Criminology and Cybersecurity is a four-year curriculum that will incorporate specialized courses in information security, network protocols, digital forensics, machine learning for security purposes, and security penetration testing and auditing.

UE pointed out the ongoing demand for criminology graduates and cited the regular recruitment efforts of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the increasing need for security professionals across different industries.

Because of this, Concepcion explained that the university aspires to contribute to the country's workforce by providing "highly equipped professionals."

"We look forward to producing highly competent and upright graduates who can deliver efficient services in crime prevention, crime detection and investigation, law enforcement, public safety, and criminological research," he added.

Apart from entry into the police force and other relevant government agencies, the university also mentioned career options for criminology graduates.

It includes business continuity management and security management in the private sector, research in specialized organizations, teaching in academia, security consultancies, and many others.
