Due to extreme heat, classes ordered suspended in 2 Isabela towns


 

SAN MANUEL, Isabela---Mayor Faustino Dy IV declared the suspension of  face-to-face classes, and the utilization of alternative modes of learning in this town on April 17-19,  and April. 22- 26 due to extreme heat wave. 

 

Dy issued Executive Order No. 9, ordering the suspension of classes in elementary and secondary levels in all public schools in San Manuel in the mentioned dates. 

 

"It is a State policy to safeguard the constitutional rights of its citizens. particularly the right to life, safety, and property, and to prioritize the general welfare," the order said. 

 

The EO cited the El Niño Advisory issued by the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (DOST-PAGASA) dated March 7, 2024, which highlighted the persistence of El Niño conditions across the tropical Pacific until May 2024. 

 

It is expected that the weather phenomenon will induce extreme heat conditions, leading to high heat index. 

 

In a similar move, Tumauini Mayor Venus Bautista also suspended classes in both public and private in elementary, secondary and colleges on April. 18 - 19.
