The Parañaque City government launched its school-based deworming month campaign at the Baclaran Elementary School-Central on Tuesday, April 16.
Mayor Eric Olivarez said 80 students from kindergarten to Grade 2 of Baclaran Elementary School-Central, Baclaran Elementary School Unit I and II joined the mass deworming program which aims to raise awareness on the importance of deworming of children for them to stay healthy and prevent soil transmitted helminthiasis ( an infestation with one or more intestina parasitic roundworms).
The team from the City Health Office headed by Dr. Olga Virtusio, in cooperation with the Department of Health-Metro Manila Center for Health Development under Regional Director Dr. Rio Magpantay, DepEd Schools Division Office of Parañaque City represented by Allan Julius Baggayan, initiated the project.
Olivarez said the city government also distributed hygiene and oral kits to student attendees after the deworming activity.
