It was a day of massive upsets in the MPL Philippines Season 13 as world champions fell one after another on Saturday, April 13.

Onic Philippines pulled off a stunning 2-0 sweep of M5 champion AP. Bren while Minana EVOS pulled the rug from under ECHO with its own 2-0 win at the Shooting Gallery Studios.
A huge team fight during the 14-minute Lord dance in Game 2 spelled the difference for the Hedgehogs as Frince “Super Frince” Ramirez on the Vexana completed a clutch Lord steal that turned the tables in favor of Onic.
The rest of the team followed suit and hunted down AP. Bren members to score a three-man wipe before Duane “Kelra” Pillas notched another double kill to punctuate the huge upset.
Kelra led the way with 6-2-1 while Jem “Jem” Lanojan provided support on his Terizla pick with a 5-2-4 KDA in the 13-8 closeout.
Jomari “Escalera” Santos also had his share of the spotlight when he set the tone for Onic in the opening game behind his timely hooks on the Franco pick. He finished with a 2-1-7 line while also enabling Kelra who chipped in a 4-1-6 KDA in the series opening 13-3 win.
Onic now caught its victim atop the standings with similar 6-1 records good for 18 points apiece.
Another shocker then immediately followed suit in the second game as Jan “Domeng” Del Mundo took charge in the win over an ECHO team that was missing the services of stars Karl “Karltzy” Nepomuceno and Benedict “BennyQT” Gonzales.
Domeng simply had his way in the opening game with a 7-2-3 line on the Natan pick, even more highlighted during a 10th minute Lord fight where he helped Minana score a 4-1 exchange.
The Tigers never looked back from there and drew first blood with a 13-4 win in Game 1.
Ken “Kzen” Pile then dominated the jungle in the second game to help his team essay an 8-2 win in the second game to complete the stunning sweep.
With the win, Minana has now achieved its first win streak of the season to improve its record to 3-4 good for 10 points while ECHO slid to 5-2 slate with 16 points.
It is tied with RSG Philippine who also improved to a 5-3 record with 16 points after sweeping the skidding Omega Esports, 2-0, in the final match of the Saturday triple-header.
