THE PRC headed by Chairman Richard Gordon (center) reopens an office in Tagbilaran City, Bohol.

The office was reopened on March 26 by Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Richard J. Gordon and Secretary-General Dr. Gwen Pang.

The P2.7-million renovation was made possible by the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Society (IFRC) and is part of the P77.1-million aid the PRC allocated to Bohol.

Despite damages and challenges, the PRC national headquarters and PRC-Bohol chapter remain steadfast and continue to extend aid to millions of affected families in the province.

"I am proud that we are part of Bohol's progress. When Odette happened in 2021, we were among the first in disaster responses and also the first to provide recovery operations not just in Bohol but in the rest of the country,” Gordon said. We, at the PRC, are not mere spectators. We take actions, save lives, and leave a mark, added Gordon.

The PRC ranked first among the 62 international non-government organizations (INGOs) that responded to Odette-affected communities with than 750 activities across 11 provinces.

Gordon also added that the renovation is one way to empower the chapter, its volunteers, and communities.

"Our provisions of assistance do not only help people but also empower them. Demands for humanitarian aid are increasing in Bohol and this is our way to strengthen the chapter's capacity to provide blood services and other assistance."

He urged members, staff, and Red Cross Youth of the PRC in this province to inculcate the commitment they vowed when they became part of PRC in their hearts and minds. "You have to step up your efforts because this is a lifesaving organization and a lot of people are depending on us."
