Former first lady Imelda 'in good spirits, no difficulty in breathing' amid hospitalization—Marcos

Former first lady Imelda Marcos "is in good spirits" and has no difficulty in breathing, following her hospitalization due to pneumonia, President Marcos said.

In a statement, Marcos, who is currently in Melbourne, Australia, confirmed that his mother is suffering from slight pneumonia. He said he has spoken to her doctors and told him that she is in good spirits and resting well.

"I just spoke with my mother’s doctors. She is suffering from slight pneumonia and is running a fever. She has been put on a course of antibiotics and the doctors are confident that this will relieve her fever," Marcos said on Tuesday night, March 5.

"She is in good spirits, has no difficulty in breathing and is resting well," he added.

The President also thanked the Filipino public for their concern and prayers.

Senator Imee Marcos told reporters on Tuesday afternoon that the 94-year-old matriarch was hospitalized for close monitoring due to pneumonia.

The President is currently in Melbourne for his participation at the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)-Australia Special Summit. He will be back in the country on Wednesday, March 6.
