Extreme caution advised: Heat indices surge in 6 Central Luzon areas on March 5


The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported on Tuesday, March 5, that parts of Central Luzon warranted "extreme caution" due to recorded heat indexes ranging from 33°C to 41°C.

These areas experiencing high heat indexes include Iba, Zambales (36°C); Clark Airport, Pampanga (36°C); Central Luzon State University (CLSU), Muñoz, Nueva Ecija (38°C); Baler, Aurora (33°C); Casiguran, Aurora (33°C); and Cubi Pt., Subic Bay, Olongapo City (36°C).

Furthermore, the National Capital Region (NCR) also registered a heat index under "extreme caution," with the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Pasay City and the PAGASA Science Garden in Quezon City both recording a temperature of 35°C.

Meanwhile, PAGASA recorded a heat index under the "danger" level in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, at 42°C.
