LOOK: Philippines ranks 78th in latest global passport ranking

Falling five spots from previous month


In the February 2024 Henley Passport Index, the ranking of the Philippine passport has dropped from 73rd to 78th.

The Henley Passport Index is “considered the most authoritative ranking of all the world's passports,” assessing the number of destinations accessible without a visa. Updated monthly, the report utilizes data from the International Air Transport Association with 199 passports and 227 destinations.

In Southeast Asia, Singapore takes the top spot, with visa-free access to 194 destinations. The Philippines ranks 78th globally and 7th in Southeast Asia, with access to 68 destinations.

Malaysia holds the 12th global position with access to 183 destinations. Brunei secures the 21st spot, offering access to 168 destinations, while Timor-Leste ranks 58th, providing access to 96 destinations. Thailand stands at 66, and Indonesia at 69.

The most powerful passports globally belong to France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Singapore, and Spain. On the other hand, the least powerful passports belong to Somalia, Yemen, Pakistan, Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan.
