Laborer wounded in Maundy Thursday shooting in Ilocos Sur


SANTO  DOMINGO, Ilocos Sur – A 28-year-old construction worker was shot and wounded in his house in Barangay Paras, this town, on Maundy Thursday.

Police said the victim, Rizen de Guzman, was talking over the cellphone when the suspect, Leo Cabusao, 25, also a construction worker, from Barangay Lungog, Narvacan, Ilocos Sur, arrived and shot him using a caliber .22 revolver in the face.

Cabusao escaped and the victim was taken to a hospital.

The suspect, who left behind his slippers and cellphone in the victim’s house during his escape, turned himself in to the Santa Police Station, about 26 kilometers south of this town, before dawn on Good Friday.

Police are conducting follow-up investigation and looking for the gun used by the suspect that lawmen said might have been thrown away during his escape.
