2 NPA rebels killed in Quezon clash


LUCENA CITY, Quezon – Two New People’s Army rebels were killed and a soldier was wounded in an encounter on Maundy Thursday in Barangay San Jose, Guinayangan, Quezon.

Several NPA were believed wounded in the encounter.

Police Lt. Gen. Rhoderick Armamento, commander of the Area Police Command-South Luzon, ordered the police to closely monitor hospitals and clinics for possible admission of wounded communist rebels.

Armamento also directed the deployment of personnel in the area in coordination with the Armed Forces of the Philippines to conduct checkpoints and rapid combat and blocking operations against the fleeing NPA fighters.

The 85th Infantry Battalion was conducting strike operations when it encountered an undetermined number of NPA rebels under the Platun Reymark of the Sub-regional Military Area 4 B of the Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee (STRPC).
