NPA fighter yields in Agusan del Sur

BUTUAN CITY – A New People’s Army (NPA) fighter from Davao Oriental surrendered to the police in Agusan del Sur on Wednesday, March 20.

“He is tired of running in the mountains and realized that the god-less CPP-NPA ideology was bleak and pointless,” Police Regional Office 13-Regional Public Information Office (RPIO) chief Police Major Jennifer S. Ometer said.

Ka Andie, 43, turned over three shotguns without serial numbers, two .357 revolvers without serial numbers, and 31 bullets, Ometer said.

The rebel returnee was a member of the dismantled Guerilla Front 34, Sub-Regional Committee 4 of the Communist Party of the Philippines-NPA Southern Mindanao Regional Committee (SMRC)  and was involved in atrocities in Agusan del Sur,

PRO-13 Director Police Brig. Gen. Kirby John Kraft commended the communist rebel for surrendering.

“May his submission to the authorities inspire others to do the same because it is never too late to yield and avail handfuls of government assistance.”

“The enemies of the state have nothing but futile propaganda that destroys lives and prevents people from becoming productive members of the community,” added Kraft.

The surrenderer is entitled to full assistance package under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program of the government.
