Motorists brace for Holy Week traffic in CALAX, CAVITEX

Motorists are urged to prepare for the expected Holy Week traffic surge at the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX), Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX), and the C-5 Link Segment, as the Metro Pacific Tollways South (MPT South) implements ways to manage the expressways.

Beginning Monday, March 25 to Sunday, March 31, MPT South said the number of vehicles traversing the roads will multiply by eight to 10 percent from the usual daily volume of 43,000 in CALAX, 170,000 in CAVITEX, and 12,300 in C5 Link.

To ensure easier travel, MPT South President and General Manager Raul L. Ignacio advised motorists to avail of RFIDs for toll transactions.

"Utilizing Easytrip RFID at MPTC Toll Plazas significantly reduces travel time compared to waiting in long cash lanes," he said.

He also reminded vehicle owners to ensure their battery, lights, oil, water, brake, air, gas, engine, tire, and self (BLOWBAGETS) are functional for the whole trip.

In case of vehicular break-down, teams have been deployed to conduct motorist assistance 24/7.

Free towing assistance is available on 6 a.m. on March 25, 6 a.m. on March 27 to 6 a.m. on March 29; and 6 a.m. on March 30 to 6 a.m. on April 1.

Construction and lane closures along the expressways have also been suspended to accommodate more vehicles.
