15 juvenile crocodiles released in Isabela sanctuary


SAN MARIANO, Isabela – The Mabuwaya Foundation released 15 juvenile crocodiles at Dunoy Lake within the Northern Sierra Madre Natural Park here on World Wildlife Day last March 3.

These reptiles were freed in collaboration with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Region 2, the local government unit, Agta community, and women’s association here.

The Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office said that the release of juvenile crocodiles is part of biodiversity preservation and ecological balance in the area.

Mabuwaya Foundation Chief Operating Officer Marites Gatan-Balbas conducted an information and education campaign to ensure the safety of the residents from the crocodiles.

Balbas thanked participants of the event.  "Thank you all for being part of this event. Your presence showed your commitment to save the Philippine crocodile. It is so joyful to watch everyone naming their own crocodile," she said.
