UP Manila suspends work due to PGH fire incident


A fire incident prompted the University of the Philippines-Manila to suspend work for employees at the Central Block of the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13.

UP Manila said the fire, which occurred at the PGH Medicine Ward, was already “under control” as of 4 p.m. 

“Only a few trails of smoke remain. Firefighters and emergency response teams are still assessing the situation,” the university said.

It also warned the public to refrain from going near the area and its surroundings. 

The Manila Collegian said UP Manila-College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) also suspended classes at 4 p.m., as announced by CAS Dean Carillo.
