Eric Carmen, the singer behind the hit songs "All By Myself" and "Love Is All That Matters," passed away at 74.

Eric's demise was announced by his wife, Amy Carmen, on her husband's Facebook page on March 12.

"It is with tremendous sadness that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of Eric Carmen.

 

 

"Our sweet, loving and talented Eric passed away in his sleep, over the weekend.

"It brought him great joy to know, that for decades, his music touched so many and will be his lasting legacy.

 

 

"Please respect the family’s privacy as we mourn our enormous loss.

“Love Is All That Matters...Faithful and Forever.”

The last line was the lyrics from Eric's hit ballad "Love is All that Matters." Amy did not reveal the cause of her husband's death.

Eric first gained fame with the Raspberries’ hit song, “Go All the Way.” Following the band's breakup in the mid-1970s, he achieved success as a solo artist with his songs "All by Myself" and "Never Gonna Fall in Love Again." His string of hit songs continued into the 1980s with "Hungry Eyes" from "Dirty Dancing."
