60 green sea turtle hatchlings released in Sipalay City

BACOLOD CITY – Sixty green sea turtle hatchlings were released back to the sea in a beach resort in Barangay Nauhang, Sipalay City, Negros Occidental on Monday, February 5.

These turtles were discovered by the resort owner at around 10 p.m. on Sunday, February 4.

As part of the procedure, the hatchlings were secured in a tub with seawater. He informed Bantay Dagat to facilitate the release of the turtles.

The city government encouraged everyone to be cautious if they spot sea turtles as they have a very low survival rate.

Only a few survive to adulthood and return to their nesting ground.

The city urged the public to inform proper authorities upon discovering these marine creatures.

Last month, 53 sea turtle hatchlings were also released in a beach resort in Barangay Nauhang, after they were spotted in the resort due to the light.
