In her statement, which was posted by Padilla on Facebook, Rodriguez clarified that she received a Vitamin C drip, not a glutathione drip, as earlier reported, when she posted on her Instagram her recent visit to the Senate to visit her husband and to support the passage of the “Eddie Garcia” bill on third and final reading.

“Despite my busy schedule as a wife, mother and online seller, I wanted to be there with him since his work is very important to him,” she said in her statement.

“To clarify, I received a Vitamin C drip, not Glutathione, under the medical supervision of a professional nurse,”

“Having mentioned this, my intent was just to inspire others that even amidst various activities or wherever they are, they can still prioritize their health by taking vitamins,” she pointed out.

“It was never my intention to malign nor undermine the integrity and dignity of the Senate. I want to extend my sincerest apologies to all concerned, including the members and staff of the Senate and the public. We uphold the Senate’s dignity and integrity. Thank you for your understanding,” the senator’s wife reiterated.

Rodriguez had since deleted her post on social media after she was criticized by netizens and alarmed health experts.

Sen. Maria Lourdes Nancy Binay had earlier said she too was bothered by the incident and said that the incident should be closely looked into “because it involves issues of conduct, integrity and reputation of the institution and matters that concern health and safety.”
