The Philippines’ largest hyperscale data center in Sta. Rosa, Laguna is expected to commence operations in July, announced its operator VITRO Inc., a subsidiary of ePLDT.
VITRO Sta. Rosa (VSR), located within a five hectare-property in Laguna, was made as a 50 megawatts (MW) capacity hyperscale facility that is equipped with three fiber routes to “ensure network diversity, resilience, and carrier-neutrality.”
In a statement, VITRO said clients will begin deploying equipment in the facility by June, with the Meralco switching station to be activated in April.
Among VSR partners are telcos and internet service providers (ISPs) such as Radius, Eastern Communications, InfiniVAN, and PLDT.
Other partners for the VSR will soon be announced.
With VSR, ePLDT and VITRO hope to augment the country’s digital infrastructure capacity to advance its thrust towards digitalization.
“Our aspiration is to ensure that our VITRO Data Centers will be a crucial enabler of the country’s digital economy. With the launch of VSR, we hope to be able to attract more investment from our hyperscale partners while at the same time serve the country’s growing need for data center services from both the private and public sector,” said ePLDT and VITRO Inc. President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Victor Genuino.
“We have a great opportunity to position the Philippines as the next transit and hyperscaler hub in Asia,” he added.
To date, VITRO Inc. has 10 data center facilities and building over 30,000 square meters of colocation space across major business districts, said VITRO Inc. Chief Commercial Officer Gary Ignacio.
