Comelec Taguig dissuades people from lining up overnight for voter registration

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) office in Taguig has asked people not to line up overnight in order to have a slot for the voter registration.

The voter registration is being held for the May 12, 2025 national and local elections. The registration started on Feb. 12 and will be held until Sept. 30 this year. It will accommodate new voters, transferees and those applying for reactivation of their registration.

It will be held from Monday to Saturday, including holidays, unless the Comelec declares no registration for a specific date. No voter registration will be held on March 28, 29, and 30, which are Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Black Saturday, respectively.

In an announcement, Comelec Taguig said, “Para sa kaligtasan ng lahat, ang opisina ng COMELEC TAGUIG ay HINDI HINIHIKAYAT ang mga gustong magparehistro na pumila ng gabi  para lamang makapagparehistro (For the safety of everyone, the office of Comelec Taguig is not encouraging those who want to register to line up at night so they can just register).”

“Bagkus, aming binibigyang-diin na magset ng online appointment upang maging mabilis at maayos ang proseso ng pagpaparehistro (Instead, we emphasize setting an online appointment for a faster and orderly process of registration),” Comelec Taguig added.

Comelec Taguig has been swamped with people for the voter registration. From Feb. 12 to 17, it processed 5,818 applicants or an average of 970 persons per day.
