Over 4,000 people sign up for voter registration in Muntinlupa, Taguig, Pateros in 3 days


A total of 4,222 people trooped to the Commission on Elections (Comelec) offices in Muntinlupa, Taguig and Pateros to register as voters in three days. 

Comelec launched the voter registration on Feb. 12, which will run until Sept. 30 this year. The voter registration is for the May 12, 2025 national and local elections.

A total of 2,879 people registered with the Comelec-Taguig office in three days from Feb. 12 to 14. On the first day, 994 people registered as voters followed by 932 on Feb. 13 and 953 on Feb. 14. 

In Muntinlupa, a total of 1,278 registered in three days. On Feb. 12, there were 479 people who registered as voters followed by 438 on Feb. 13 and 361 on Feb. 14, according to the Comelec-Muntinlupa office.  

Pateros, the smallest local government unit in Metro Manila, had 65 registrants. According to Pateros Election Officer Armando Mallorca, 23 people registered on the first day followed by 25 on Feb. 13 and 17 on Feb. 14. 

The new voter registration accepts new voters and transferees. It is being from Monday to Saturday, including holidays, unless the Comelec declares no registration for a specific date. 

No voter registration will be held on March 28, 29, and 30, which are Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Black Saturday, respectively.

Mall registration and  Register Anywhere Program (RAP) in Muntinlupa 

Comelec-Muntinlupa Election Officer Kim Alzate-Cu announced that on Feb. 24, the voter registration and Register Anywhere Program (RAP) will be held at SM Center Muntinlupa in Barangay Tunasan. 

The Comelec-Muntinlupa office at South Park in Alabang will be closed on that day. 

Under Comelec's RAP (formerly called Register Anywhere Project), "qualified voters who are present in a given locality other than his or her residence city/municipality/district ...may proceed to the designated registration venues and file their applications before the created RAP Teams if he/she desires to be registered in the city/municipality/district of his/her permanent residence."

"This will cover also those individuals, who by reason of occupation, profession, employment in private or public sector, and educational activities, temporarily reside in areas outside the city/district/municipality of their residence," according to Comelec Resolution 10869. 

It added, "the Commission recognizes the difficulty of numerous qualified voters who temporarily reside in areas far from their city/municipality/district by reason of (1) occupation, (2) profession, (3) employment in private or public sector, or (4) educational activities; and are required to travel back to their permanent place of residence in order to register or to transfer their existing registration record."

Here are the requirements for voter registration: 

FOR REGISTRATION AS NEW VOTERS AND TRANSFER OF REGISTRATION

Please present original and photocopy of any of the following identification documents that bear your current address in Muntinlupa City:

1. National Identification (ID) card under the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys);

2. PostalID card;

3. PWD ID card;

4. Student's ID card or library card, signed by the school authority;

5. SC's ID card;

6. Land Transportation Office (LTO) Driver's License/Student permit;

7. National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) clearance:

8. Philippine Passport;

9. Social Security System (SSS)/Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) or other Unified Multi-Purpose ID Card;

10. Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) ID card;

11. License issued by the Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC);

12.  Certificate of Confirmation issued by the National Commission on Indigenous

Peoples (NCIP) in case of members of ICCs or IPs;

13. Barangay Identification/Certification with photo; and

14. Any other Government issued valid IDs.

Not honored as valid identification documents for purposes of registration:

1. Community Tax Certificates (cedula);

2. Philippine National Police (PNP) clearance; and

3. Employee IDs.

FOR CHANGE/CORRECTION OF ENTRY

Please present original/certified true copy and photocopy of the following:

1. Certification by the Solemnizing officer;

2. Marriage contract or court order with certification of finality;

3.Order by the Civil Registrar or Consul General, as the case may be.
