Woman found dead in grassy area in Binangonan, Rizal


A female employee of a motorcycle trading firm was found dead in a grassy area of an upland village in Binangonan, Rizal Tuesday morning, Feb. 13.

Initial police report identified the victim as Janiclear Eustaquio Cahilig, 31, a resident of San Isidro, Antipolo City.

The office of Rizal Police Provincial Office (PPO) director Felipe B. Maraggun said the victim was positively identified by her live-in-partner. 

Investigation showed that the victim went to her office on Monday afternoon, Feb. 12, which was her day off. 

Information from the victim’s partner indicated that the victim was reportedly about to have a drinking session in the evening of Feb. 12. No information was available to the police as to the  identity of the victim’s drinking companion or companions.

The Rizal PPO's Information Office chief,  Police Capt. Mariesol Tactaquin told Manila Bulletin that the report from Binangonan Police revealed that the victim was found in a grassy area on the roadside of Quarry Road in Barangay Palangoy around 7:30 a.m. on Feb. 13, by a certain Eric who passed by the area.

Binangonan Chief of Police, Col. Evangeline Santos, said a follow-up investigation was still ongoing.

Binangonan Mayor Cesar Ynares and Municipal Administrator Russel Ynares condoled with the family of the victim and called for the immediate solution of the crime.
