The local governments of Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, and Valenzuela were awarded the prestigious Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) on Monday, Dec. 9.
The award recognizes their excellent performance in key areas, including financial housekeeping, disaster preparedness, business competitiveness, social protection, and public safety.
Caloocan City, under the leadership of Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan, marked its eighth consecutive year of receiving the SGLG award.
Malapitan was joined by Vice Mayor Karina Teh-Limsico, Representative Oca Malapitan, and the city council, accepted the honor with pride.
The mayor praised the collective efforts of city hall staff and officials, attributing the achievement to their dedication to providing exemplary public service.
"Taas-noo po nating tinatanggap ang ika-walong sunod na SGLG at binabati ko po ang lahat ng aking kasamahan sa pamahalaang lungsod sa walang patid na pagtulong sa ating pamumuno na maibigay ang pinakamahusay na serbisyo-publiko sa ating mga kababayan (We proudly accept our eighth consecutive Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) award and extend my heartfelt congratulations to all my colleagues in the city government for their unwavering support and dedication to delivering the best public service to our constituents),” he said.
He also reaffirmed his administration's commitment to transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement in governance.
"Patunay at testamento po ang SGLG ng ating maayos, tapat, progresibo, at taos-pusong paglilingkod sa mga Batang Kankaloo, kaya naman alay po naming lahat sa inyo ang parangal na ito (The SGLG stands as proof and testament to our efficient, honest, progressive, and heartfelt service to the people of Caloocan. This recognition is dedicated to all of you, our beloved Batang Kankaloo),” Malapitan said.
"Asahan po ninyo na patuloy naming hihigitan ang pagsukli ang inyong tiwala sa pamamagitan ng pagtitiyak na malinis at walang bahid ng kahit anong anomalya ang ating pag-gogobyerno (Rest assured that we will continue to exceed your trust by ensuring that our governance remains clean and free from any form of anomaly),” the mayor added.
Malabon City also celebrated its second consecutive SGLG award under the leadership of Mayor Jeannie Sandoval.
“Ang SGLG, na nakuha ng Malabon sa magkasunod na taon, ang nagpapatunay sa mahusay na pamumuno ng pamahalaang lungsod pagdating sa pagsasagawa ng mga programa para sa kapakanan at kaligtasan ng mamayan, tapat na pangangasiwa sa pondo, at pagsiguro sa maayos at epektibong mga operasyon tuwing may kalamidad (The SGLG, which Malabon has earned for two consecutive years, is a testament to the city's excellent leadership in implementing programs for the welfare and safety of its citizens, transparent fund management, and efficient disaster response operations),” she said.
She expressed gratitude to the DILG and credited the award to the collective efforts of city officials and residents in pursuing continuous progress and recovery.
Meanwhile, Navotas City Mayor John Rey Tiangco accompanied by Vice Mayor Tito Sanchez, personally accepted the award.
In a social media post, Tiangco expressed his appreciation to city hall employees and residents for their unwavering support.

He reaffirmed his administration's commitment to delivering exceptional services through programs like the #AsikasongAllTheWay and ensuring a brighter future for all Navoteños.
Valenzuela City, under Mayor Weslie “WES” Gatchalian, celebrated its second SGLG award, alongside its recent Galing Pook Award.
“Double the blessing for Valenzuela before the year ends! Following our recent recognition with the Galing Pook Award, we now celebrate this SGLG achievement. Of course, this would not be possible without the hard work of our department heads and employees, so I’d like to dedicate this prestigious award to all of you. Thank you for serving our city wholeheartedly!),” he said.
He emphasized that these accolades reflect Valenzuela's steadfast commitment to effective governance, transparency, and public service excellence.
The SGLG awards underscore the Camanava LGUs dedication to exemplary governance, innovative programs, and efficient public service.
