Munzon clutch as NorthPort edges TNT to stay perfect

The 29-year-old forward left his imprint on both ends of the floor, anchoring the Batang Pier's defense while also drilling the biggest shot with 1:28 left to settle the score and give his team its fourth win in as many games in the mid-season conference.

Munzon fired nine of his 20 points in the final frame to go with his four steals while import Kadeem Jack led the way with 27 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks.

Arvin Tolentino also stuffed the stat sheet with 17 points, 11 rebounds and six assists to go with three steals and three blocks – a testament to the team's defensive mentality.

Will Navarro had 12 points and nine rebounds while Evan Nelle continued to shine in Jio Jalalon's absence with eight points and eight assists.

The Batang Pier was actually trailing by one, 93-94 with a little over two minutes left before they unloaded a 7-1 spurt that was capped by the Munzon trey. 

Nelle triggered the run with a layup before Tolentino drained a jumper to make it, 97-94. TNT import Rondae Hollis-Jefferson answered with a split from the foul line but that was the last point for TNT in the rest of the game.

The Tropang Giga import had 19 points, 14 rebounds, seven assists, three steals and three blocks against seven turnovers. 

Calvin Oftana had 20 points while RR Pogoy and Glenn Khobuntin finished 17 and 14 in an effort to pick up the slack from the absence of Jason Castro and Kelly Williams.

TNT, which now in unfamiliar 0-2 territory, also missed the services of Poi Erram who served his one-game suspension after a closed fist hit on Eastern's Glen Yang last timeout. He was also fined P20,000 for the hit that was resulted in an flagrant foul penalty 2 infractions and his ejection in the game.
