Petro Gazz and PLDT try to solidify their standings inside the Top 4 when they clash on Tuesday, Dec. 10, in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
Toting identical 3-1 cards with the Chery Tiggo Crossovers at joint third, the Angels and the High Speed Hitters aim to untangle themselves from that logjam in their 4 p.m. confrontation.
The Crossovers, for their part, have the same agenda when they battle the Akari Chargers (2-3) in the 6:30 p.m. nightcap.
Once again, Brooke Van Sickle is expected to carry the cudgels for Petro Gazz following consistent showing in their matches including in their back-to-back victories against Akari and Farm Fresh where she averaged 19.5 points a game.
But Van Sickle would need extra support from veteran hard-hitter Myla Pablo, setter Djanel Cheng, Aiza Pontillas and Remy Palma to outplay a dangerous squad like PLDT.
Out to challenge Van Sickle is Savi Davison, who is expected to spearhead the High Speed Hitters from getting back on track after stinging four-set defeat to the Crossovers that snapped their three-game winning run.
Davison erupted for 27 points in that game that went futile and is eager to double her efforts anew along with Erika Santos and Dell Palomata to regain lost bearings.
Meanwhile, Chery Tiggo is slowly picking up its tempo following victories over Nxled and PLDT with its solid frontline composed of Cess Robles, Ara Galang, Ponggay Gaston and Shaya Adorador.
The fearless foursome finished in twin figures against PLDT with Robles and Galang scoring 17 and 13 points, and Gaston and Adorador combining for 21 points.
But standing in the way of another triumph is Akari, who hopes to crawl out of a three-game slump that put them at 2-3 in the lower standings.
Ivy Lacsina is set to continue her solid offense after finishing 21 points the last time for the Chargers, while Grethcel Soltones and CJ Soyud are also out to fuel their campaign anew.
