Police Lt. Loreto Santillan, operations officer of the Cauayan Municipal Police Station, identified the victim as Romie Dahil-Dahil.

Santillan said the suspect stabbed Dahil-Dahil from behind in a sari-sari store with a bolo. The victim slumped to the ground and the suspect beheaded him and placed his severed head near his legs before fleeing.

The suspect was arrested while hiding in a concrete pipe in Barangay Caliling. The murder weapon was recovered.

The victim and the suspect were summoned to the barangay to discuss their conflict on Dec. 27.

However, they allegedly failed to reach a settlement and this irked the suspect.

Murder charges will be filed against the suspect.
