Escudero urges Filipinos to ‘vote wisely’ in upcoming May polls; Romualdez bats for stronger, more resilient Philippines in NY 2025

Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero and House Speaker Martin Romualdez on Tuesday, December 31 called on the public to remember to carry “the spirit of hope and solidarity” as the country welcomes the New Year 2025.

“Although 2024 presented many challenges for Filipinos, we should reflect on this year with gratitude and optimism, knowing that brighter days lie ahead,” Escudero said in his New Year’s message.

“Looking ahead to 2025, let us carry this spirit of hope and solidarity into the New Year. Kayang-kaya anuman ang balakid kung tayo ay nagkakaisa at nagsasama-sama (We can overcome any obstacle if we unite and come together),” the senator further said.

The Senate leader also called on the public to exercise their right to suffrage in the upcoming May elections.

“As we approach the May 2025 mid-term elections, I urge all Filipinos to exercise their right to vote wisely,” he said.

“Let us take this occasion to elect leaders who are truly committed to genuine change and progress. Addressing the pressing issue of poverty requires leaders who prioritize poverty alleviation and social reforms. By choosing leaders who champion equity and prosperity for all, we can build a brighter future for our nation,” the senator emphasized.

Romualdez also ushered in 2025 with a message of hope, unity and determination and asked Filipinos to embrace the New Year as an opportunity to build a stronger, more resilient Philippines.

The leader of the 307-strong House of Representatives further described the New Year as a fresh start and a chance for collective action to create a brighter future for the nation under President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr.

“The year 2024 has left many memories for our country. We have had many successes, but this has also been a year of great challenges – a series of typhoons, floods and other calamities have brought hardship and trials to our countrymen,” the Speaker said.

“The New Year is a symbol of a new beginning – an opportunity to work together again and build a stronger future for our people,” he pointed out.

Romualdez said he can vouch on Filipinos to exhibit resiliencey, unity and the “bayanihan” spirit when overcoming hardships.

“As we step into 2025, let us carry with us the lessons of the past year. Let us remain united in our resolve to rise above challenges, to rebuild what has been lost and to ensure that no Filipino is left behind,” Speaker Romualdez said.

“Along with hope in the new year comes renewed courage and courage to face the challenges and opportunities of the future,” the House leader stressed.
