The 19-year-old Eala took advantage of Subasic’s erratic serves to clinch the win in one hour and 35 minutes of this Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) tournament.

The Filipina tennis sensation actually dropped her serve only twice, with her rival stumbling to 15 double faults.

The win came a day after Eala also made her campaign felt with a 6-1, 6-2 rout of another Aussie in Catherine Aulia.

While her first-round main draw foe has yet to be determined as other qualifying matches are being played at press time, Eala is also preparing for her doubles campaign with Japanese partner Sayaka Ishii.

Eala and Ishii are set to meet France’s Elsa Jacquemot and Canada’s Maina Stakusic in the opening round of the 16-pair field.

This is technically Eala’s first tournament for the 2025 season as she guns for her first WTA singles and doubles titles.

So far, she has won five singles and three doubles crowns in the International Tennis Federation (ITF).
