Samsung will soon launch the One UI 7 for their Galaxy devices.
Based on Android 15, the One UI 7 is a major OS update in Samsung’s Galaxy ecosystem.
Some of its biggest features, unsurprisingly, are the improved AI capabilities. Samsung introduced some of Google’s AI innovations through the S24 series. Now we’re getting an encore with the rollout of the One UI 7 with the Galaxy S25 series, which is expected to make headlines sometime between January and February.
Some AI features will include writing assist tools for spell and grammar check, summarization, and auto-formatting.
If you enable call recording, your calls are automatically transcribed, which may become useful -- no more fussing around for something to write on when given instructions, directions, or numbers.
Lock screens will also get some updates with the One UI 7. This includes the Now Bar, where important notifications will appear and be interactable through the lock screen, reducing the need to open the phone constantly.
You’ll also get improved camera controls and a simpler UI experience.
However, beyond these features, one of the most anticipated is camera continuity. This allows you to capture an image or scan a document and have these files move freely between your Galaxy devices.
For instance, if you have taken a photo with your smartphone, that file will appear on your tablet, where you can easily apply edits.
The One UI 7’s camera continuity will work for Samsung Internet and the Samsung Notes app, as long as the devices are signed into the same Samsung Account. It’s also worth noting that both devices’ Bluetooth must be on and within range, plus, they have to be using the same Wi-Fi network.
The idea here is you can copy your texts, videos, and photos, on one device, and then paste them onto another device. This way, you can pick up where you left off, with more flexibility at hand. This should work for smartphones, tablets, and Samsung PCs and laptops, solidifying their productivity workflow.
Be sure to be on the lookout for Samsung’s upcoming Unpack to get all the details, along with all the other big announcements such as the Galaxy S25 series. So stay tuned!
